Searching the Web!

During the past presentation I learned a great deal of things that I was not aware of previously. Mr. Nolans presentation provided great insight about a wide varieties of ways and websites to use. I learned about useful websites that can be used to find more scholarly recources that are useful for researching for projects, essays, etc. GoogleScholar and Dogpile I found to be interesting websites to use. They proved to be useful sites that provide great information. As students this is great because we find ourselves many times looking for scholarly information in order to do projects. Many times it is difficult to find scholarly information since there are so many people today that post all types of information online. This presentation helped me to know where to go besides online catalogues to look for valuable information.

Copyrighting!

Copyright is a violation that is considered to be a big deal around the world and especially in the United States. There are many people around the world that try to take advantage of other author’s works and ideas by using that persons work illegally. These thieves most of the times steal author’s and publishers productions in order to gain a profit from the work themselves. This is something that I believe is completely unacceptable, and should be taken strong action against. The only people that should earn profit as well as advantages from a production are the people who produce them. The people who are committing these crimes should be taken to prison, and should be faced with a good amount of years in prison. I believe it is alright to duplicate a certain amount of a production for personal use. It is also acceptable in my opinion to use another individual’s productions for educational use. However, the problem lies when someone tries to use another person’s work and ideas for personal benefit or profit. This has no excuse and people should continue to be fined or imprisoned for committing these violations.

Facebook Mania!

The first time I ever used facebook was when I first started as a freshmen in college. At first I would log on a couple of times a week, however, as time went on I began to grow more addicted to the website. As of now I can confess that I am hooked to the website logging on at least 2 times a day. The reason why facebook is so great is because it allows me to communicate with friends and family all around the world. It is not only a great social network, but an academic network as well. Facebook also allows students to create groups for academic purposes. Last week my Accounting group started a page on facebook in order to schedule group meetings, and ask questions concerning the group project we are doing as well. Facebook is a great network which I hope will keep developing and be around for many years to come!
