Favorite Websites!!!!!

The presentations from last Thurdays class were very interesting. Most of the presentations were very creative and included many different topics. Family and friends were the most commonly portrayed images in the presentations. Out of all the presentations shown last week the three that I thought were the best were Taylor's, Baran's, and Adan's. Taylor's presentation was great because it included a wide variety of photos. His design was very simple, but all of his backgrounds went well with the topics. I thought Baran's presentation was very good for a couple of reasons. He included beautiful pictures of Turkey that make anyone who has not been there want to go visit. Baran also included a discription of How basketball is an important part of his life which I found very interesing since I am a big basketball fan myself. Last but not least Adan's presentation was brilliant because his presentation included great designs and his topics as usual always attract the attention of anyone watching them. These were my three favorite websites and these are the reasons why.

Presentation 2!

The presentations given by the class have been excellent and I really can't have any criticism at all towards any of the presentations. Unfortunately, last class I was unable to see the presentations since I was very sick, but heard many great things about them. The one's that were the best according to the friends I talked to were Erin Camp's and Taylor Burdens. I heard that Erin made a very interesting presentation over philosophy and its many branches and that overall it was a very well done powerpoint. Taylors on the other hand was said to have been very interesting because of the music he added and the way it captivated the audience. I am very sad that I was unable to watch these presentations as they were very entertaining last class. I am sure that we will carry this skill of using powerpoints for many years to come.

The top powerpoints!!!!

This past thursday the presentations were of very good quality. There were an abundant amount of powerpoint presentations that I considered of very acceptable quality. I beleive that the top two powerpoint presentations were that of Adan Gonzales and Hannah Lin. Adan's powerpoint presentation was great because the way in which he attracted the attention of the whole audience by knowing his material good and having a great passion for it. By only listening to Adan talk 5 minutes you could tell how passionate he is about producing music. After the presentation I learned that it is very hard to become a producer, but if one has passion like Adan has for producing music one can acheive what ever it is they wish to pursue in. Hannah's presentation on the other hand interested me greatly beacause of the way she added the youtube videos in her presentation. The youtube video was hilarious and absolutely made my day. I also believe this is a great major to achieve. These are the two presentations which I thought were the best, however all the presentations in the class proved to be very creative which made it hard to choose only 2

Power Point Presentation Tips!

The articles posted on the class webpage are very valuable in that they give us a good reference on how to make a good power point presentation. It is important to take these tips and hold them with us for the rest of our lives since it is very likely that we will be using them in the future. Some of the tips that I beleived would be of good advice to anyone using powerpoint is to make sure that you use high quality graphics in your presentation. Low quality graphics will reflect a dull feel to everyone watching your presentation. I would also recommend to anyone using power point that it is vital to use the minimum amount of words possible. Your powerpoint should demonstrate important points and should not contain all the information you are going to be talking about. This information should be included on view notes which are also important because they allow students to have side notes on what they are going to talk about. These view notes are only visible on the person who is presentings desktop but not on the actual presentaiton itself.

Five tips to keep in mind when using powerpoint:

1. Use a descent amount of slides and try to keep it simple

2. Use high quality graphics to give a good outlook on your overall presentation

3. Use as few information as possible on your slides and dont clutter all your information on the slides

4. Use the minimum amount of bullets possible

5. Include images and/or clipart to show images that relate to what you are discussing in your powerpoint

Using Excel!!!!

Excel is a great recource that can help people in many different ways. I used to be absolutely clueless of the advantages that one could gain by using excel. Now I am much more aware of how to use it and the benefits that it can bring to so many people. It allows one not only to organize information in a way that is clear and easy to understand, but also helps since it is useful for plugging in mathematic equations. Adding equations is very simple to use in excel and is something I was completely unaware of. Excel is useful for everyone in the business world especially accountants which is what I am currently studying. Using excel is an everyday thing for Accountants all around the world since it makes life easier for everyone by performing tasks in a much quicker fashion. It also allows one to find many different things within a set of numbers such as the average, standard deviation, median, and mode. These are all things that I was completely unaware of and are very useful to me as an accounting major. I will definitely carry this resource with me for years to come and try to apply it whenever needed!

Center For Learning and Technology!!

The Center For Learning And Technology is a great places for students to find valuable recources for there class assignments. In the CLT students can find many computers and different types of equipment. Students can use these recourses to either make videos or edit them as well. They can also modify music because they contain special programs that are excellent when it comes to editing and arranging music. This Center also has programs available for modifying digital pictures as well as videos. If you are a teacher and want to show a video, but it is to long to show in one class period he/she can go to the CLT and edit the video to make it shorter. There are also special Macintosh computers that contain tremendous proccessing power that allow students to be able to modify huge data files that would be impossible to do on other computers. CLT is also very compatible since it works with computers of many different brands. This is a luxury for all students to have on campus in particular those majors in cinematography as well as photography. I am looking very forward to working with programs such as digital imaging and photoshop after spring break!
